Book Fair / February 11-15

Scholastic books are for sale for families to buy and take home and also for families to buy for individual classrooms and school library. Volunteers should expect to set up and take down the book fair and to help during “pre-shopping” and the actual sale days and evenings.
Box Top/Soup Label/Grocery Receipts / Ongoing

Box Top/Soup Labels: Emily Mulligan - - [email protected]
Box Tops, Campbell Soup Labels, HyVee and Checkers receipts are collected in the big Campbell Soup can in the front of the school. Volunteers tabulate the point/receipts to earn money and/or supplies for the school.
Carnival / September 28

Silent Auction: Sara Taliaferro - - [email protected]
The annual Carnival is a fun event that brings whole families to the school. There are many volunteer opportunities involved in the areas of games, food, prizes, seeking donations, etc. Volunteers are needed to help set up, run games, take tickets, set up, and clean up on the day of the carnival.
Clerical Corps / Ongoing
Coordinator: Becky O’Keefe - - [email protected]
These volunteers must be able to donate at least 2 days a month for the school year. They will work on clerical tasks from 8:45-10:45 on the morning they are assigned to volunteer. They will need to attend a training session.

These coordinators lead the club committee and coordinate the advertising, staffing, salaries, supplies, sign ups, and general oversight of the before and after school clubs (does not include Boy & Girls Club).
Cordley Kindergarten Club / Summer 2013

This person coordinates a weekly summer play date for students going into kindergarten Fall 2012.
Family Potluck and Barn Dance / February 12

This event is in the evening and intends to bring parents and children together at the school to meet friends and build community. Volunteers will set up, help serve, and clean up on the day.

This committee coordinates with the farmers, community, and school to serve food on this day that is fresh from local farms. Volunteers are needed to help harvest and to help with serving and clean-up on that day.

Fourth grade parent volunteers will help serve punch and cookies at the reception following the reception.

This committee coordinates the fundraising for the year. They coordinate the Equal Exchange Fundraiser in the fall. They also coordinate the Dine and Donate nights.

This committee coordinates a fall, spring, and summer Cordley Work Day for families to come help weed, plant, pick up trash, and work on projects to beautify our school.
Holiday Families Program / November and December

This program coordinates help at the winter holidays for families who are in need. Families apply for help and the coordinators help organize a grocery card for each family and a gift for each family member. Members of the school community help by purchasing gifts specified on individual tags. Volunteers are needed to sort and deliver gifts.

The Ice Cream Social is an opportunity for families to get together in the early evening. Volunteers are needed both to serve the ice cream, set up, and clean up.

The Pancake Feed is an event intended to bring parents and children together at the school to meet friends and build community. It is held before school (7:30-8:30 AM). Volunteers are needed to both to help plan the event and then to help cook, serve, set up, and clean up.
Room Parents / Ongoing

Room parents plan the two-three class parties during the year (Fall, Spring, and one other). The room parent will coordinate the party and enlist other classroom parents to volunteer with the planning, participate, and provide treats.

Volunteers are needed to bring food to the teacher’s lounge for Parent/Teacher conferences and the Staff Appreciation Luncheon.

These people will coordinate gifts and recognition for the staff during the school year.

The coordinator serves as liasion between school and potential volunteers when requested--coordinating and/or training volunteers as needed for Back-to-School Crew, Cordley Volunteer for the Day, or other school volunteer requests. NOTE: This is not the only way to volunteer in the classroom. Please be sure to contact your child’s classroom teacher if you are willing to be a regular volunteer.
Watermelon Feed during the Cordley Meet and Greet / August 23

Families and staff gather to eat watermelon and enjoy each other as they kick off the new school year. This is an opportunity to sign up for PTA committees.
